What is sweat equity?
Ownership in a company earned through work instead of (or as well as) money. A contributor delivers agreed work and, in return, receives shares or options on the terms both sides agreed.
How much does it cost?
Nothing. Membership is free for everyone. If paid plans are ever introduced, existing members will be told in advance. See pricing.
How do I find a project?
Go to Browse projects, filter by category, compensation and location, and open a listing to see the work, the equity on offer and the company behind it. Then apply with a short letter and, if you like, your CV.
How does an agreement get made?
After an application, the company proposes terms: the work, equity, vesting, cash, milestones and IP. Either side can propose changes; every version is kept. When you both agree, you each sign by typing your name. The company then records its corporate approval and the share issuance.
Is an agreement signed here legally binding?
It is an electronic signature, and in many countries that can be binding, but it depends on the law that applies to you and the company, and actually issuing shares usually needs more (board approval, a filing). SweatEquityHub is not a party and does not give legal advice, so get an independent advisor to check the terms. See our Terms of use.
How do milestones work?
Each agreement lists milestones with a deliverable and a due date. The contributor submits work with evidence, and the company approves it or asks for changes. The full history stays with the agreement.
What if the other person disappears or deletes their account?
Signed agreements and their milestone history stay available to both parties, even if one of them closes their account, so you always keep your record of what was agreed and delivered.
Who are the advisors?
Lawyers, accountants and other professionals who join the advisor network. We check their professional details before marking them verified. They are independent: any engagement is between you and them.
Who can see my messages?
Only the people in the conversation. SweatEquityHub staff can open a conversation only if one of its participants reports it, and every such opening is logged.
How do I report a problem?
Use “Report” on a listing or in a conversation, or contact us. We review every report.
Why do I need to confirm my email?
It keeps out spam and fake accounts. Until you confirm, you can browse but not post, apply or message.
