U.S.–Japan Export & Cold-Chain Compliance Lead for Frozen Foods
The work
Role: U.S.–Japan export, cold-chain and market-entry compliance lead
Project overview
NorthFork Frozen is preparing a U.S.–Japan export pilot for premium frozen meals and snacks. The company needs a cold-chain and trade-compliance specialist to translate its product, packaging and logistics requirements into a dependable route to Japanese importers and retail partners.
Scope and responsibilities
• Review ingredients, processing methods, packaging formats, storage temperatures and intended retail use.
• Recommend HS classifications and identify the supporting product information required for each item.
• Map U.S. export and Japanese import requirements, including food documentation, labelling, allergen disclosures and cold-chain records.
• Define hand-offs among the manufacturer, freight forwarder, cold-storage operator, importer of record, customs broker and local distributor.
• Build a repeatable shipment-readiness process covering document checks, temperature controls, escalation points and release planning.
Required background
Practical experience with frozen food exports, Japanese food-import requirements or cross-border cold-chain operations. The contributor should be able to explain regulatory and logistics risks clearly and identify where licensed customs, legal or food-safety professionals must provide formal advice.
Expected outcomes
NorthFork expects a product classification matrix, a Japan market-entry and cold-chain compliance roadmap, a shipment document checklist and a final operating review. Success means the company can prepare a controlled pilot shipment with documented responsibilities, traceability requirements and risk controls.
