U.S.–Japan Import & Compliance Lead for Food-Processing Equipment
The work
Role: U.S.–Japan market-entry and import-compliance lead for food-processing equipment
Project overview
Kinetiq Process Systems is preparing a modular food-processing equipment line for shipment from the United States to customers and distribution partners in Japan. The project needs an experienced U.S.–Japan customs and market-entry specialist to turn technical product information into a practical, compliant import pathway.
Scope and responsibilities
• Review equipment specifications, materials, components, electrical characteristics and intended industrial use.
• Recommend HS classifications and document the reasoning for each machine and major component.
• Identify relevant U.S. export controls and Japanese import, safety, labelling and documentation requirements.
• Map the responsibilities of the exporter, importer of record, carrier, customs broker and local technical partners.
• Create a repeatable clearance workflow that can support pilot shipments and later commercial orders.
Required background
Demonstrable experience with industrial machinery or food-processing equipment moving between the United States and Japan. The contributor must understand customs classification, cross-border documentation and the limits of any licence or professional authority required for formal representation.
Expected outcomes
Kinetiq expects a defensible classification matrix, a written U.S.–Japan compliance roadmap, a document checklist and a final review session with the operating team. Success means the company can prepare a pilot shipment with clearly assigned responsibilities, identified risks and an auditable basis for its customs decisions.
